Judging by the birthdates of the two oldest children listed, it seems likely that William may have been married to someone else prior to his marriage to Mary Ann Hays. The Middle Spring book lists a marriage between William McCune and Polly Campbell on 3/31/1831, so perhaps that is the earlier wife and mother of the two oldest children. | Family: F518391135

One of the more commonly seen mistakes in the Grubb genealogy is the naming of John's wife as Frances Vane, daughter of Sir Henry Vane. Sir Henry did in fact have a daughter named Frances but she was never married to John Grubb.
As the common story goes, Frances Vane was born in 1642, first married Edward Kewkewich of Minhincot, Cornwall and became a Quaker. After Edward?s death, she married John Grubb in Cornwall about 1675 and came to America with John. Supposedly, her money enabled John to purchase land upon their arrival.
The truth is a bit simpler. Frances was married to Edward and was buried next to him when she died on June 4, 1683. A quick look at John's will, signed in February of 1798, mentions his wife Frances directly and leaves a substantial portion of his estate, so it is quite obvious that the already deceased daughter of Sir Henry Vane could not be John Grubb's wife. | Family: F2900

One of the most common errors seen in this line is the listing of Ann Wilkinson as the wife of William Gregg, the immigrant ancestor of the line in the area. This probably comes from a notation in Albert Cook Myers' book about the Quaker immigration to Pennsylvania, in which he states: "One William Gregg, of Toberhead Mtg., and Ann Wilkinson, of Antrim Mtg, were married at Antrim, 11 Mo 5, 1702." The problem with this idea is that William died about fifteen years before this date, so obviously he could not have been married to this particular Ann Wilkinson. | Family: F2678

Abigail Lippincott died in Aug 20, 1697, leaving a considerable estate,
having given freedom to all her slaves before her death.
There are some that disagree with Abigail's last name of Goody. No where
can it be found?? One said that the men during that time called their
wives "Goody".

Francis Austin, founder of the family, came over to West Jersey from
England some time before December 24, 1688, when he bought fifty acres on
Birch
Creek from John Antram. This as yet the first Austin record that has
come to
light. May 3, 1689, Francis bought another fifty acres adjoining his
first lot
from Percival Towle, and Nov. 1, 1694, he sold the entire one hundred
acres to
Thomas Scattergood Jr. In all of these deeds, he styled as a resident of
Burlington and a carpenter. Four years previous to the sale of this land,
Francis Austin had bought another one hundred acres of Symon Charles,
Apr. 2,
1690, and this he in turn sold Jan. 2, 1965, to George Porter; as about a
month previously, Dec. 10 1694, he had purchased from Henry and Mary
Grugg and
Thomas and Abigail Raper a large farm of three hundred and fifty acres in
Evesham Twp., on which he finally made his home and spent the remainder
of his
life. About a year later he made his final acquisition of land by buying
from
Thomas Wilkins, whose land adjoined his own, a small tract of three acres
which
logically went with his own property. He emigrated to this counrty as a
young
man, accompanied by his sister, Elizabeth Austin, who, in 1692 mar. Thomas
Haines, son of Richard and Margaret Haines, the emigrants. His will,
which is
undated, was proven Jul. 30, 1723, the inventory of his personal estate,
amounting to L280, having been made by John Sharp and Thomas Wilkins, the
preceding day. | Francis AUSTIN

tradition. Tradition says there were 21 children born to this union, but

Charles,
was born. It would seem that Hannah made some sort of agreement with
Bethuel
Moore when she made him Executor of her Will. He became guardian of both
Joel
and Mahlon. About the time the grand daughter Ann "Nancy" became of
legal age,
18, he married her. Jacob was taxed 1773 (Microfilm # 865,465 LDS SLC)

acres and 10 cattle and horses. He was taxed on the same amount of land
through June 1880 at least. In 1795 and 1796 Hannah Austin was taxed as a
